He said this would resolve the problem of STPM top scorers being unable to secure places in matriculation colleges for years.
“By doing away with the STPM system and implementing matriculation in its place, we can have one unified university entrance system, compared to having two completely different ones now,” he told reporters after a public forum on matri-culation and university placement here yesterday.
Kulasegaran said the Government need not invest extra allocation in setting up more matriculation colleges to cope with increasing demand, but rather use the existing school facilities and the Form Six teachers who are more than qua-lified to teach matriculation courses.
The public forum was organised by the Malaysian Indian Educational and Social Awareness society and also passed five resolutions that would be presented to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
